Ironically, I have not yet had the pleasure of visiting that lovely country. Funds and vacation time have always been reserved for the costly trip to Japan - which is incredibly amazing and wonderful and worth it (I'm not complaining, promise!). But someday, I will walk the gardens in Luxembourg and eat croissants in a charming Parisian cafe. In the meantime, I'm passing on my obsession to Mayumi. Besides, it is so fun to practice my French accent!

Have I missed any? Let me know if you have one to add to the list!

Try finding Martine books. All french girls grow up reading Martine books. Le petit Nicolas books are funny and you can't beat Le petit prince. For easy to read books with lots of pictures, petit ours brun, Leo et Popi and Tchoupi are good reads.
I loved Barbar, and a little later, Tintin. Vive la France!
PS -- Have you seen the new Mdeline book, where she visits Washington for Cherry Blossoms and the Easter Egg Roll? It's not quite the original, but pretty fun for those of us who are, alas, more familliar with DC than Paris!
